Research Assistant Opportunities
RMEP offers 2 research assistant opportunities for our rising juniors, seniors and graduating seniors. These programs provides students with hands on research and experience dealing with various fields of engineering. Students work with VCU graduate students, while conducting research and experiments. Students applying for these positions should be very interested in science.
Rising 11th &12th graders will participate in the Nanomagnet research program.
This is a 3 week program.

Rising 12th graders & graduated 12th graders will participate in the Nanoparticles research program.
This is a 5 week program.

Opportunity # 1- For rising 11th and rising 12th graders
Nano Magnet Research- A nanomagnet is a submicrometric system that presents spontaneous magnetic order (magnetization) at zero applied magnetic field (remanence). The small size of nanomagnets prevents the formation of magnetic domains (see single domain (magnetic)).In this lab, students will be working on projects related to creating nanomagnets.
Opportunity # 2- For rising 12th graders and graduated 12th graders
Nanoparticles Research- Nanoparticles are very tiny particles between 1 and 100 nanometers in size.(1 nanometer = 10^(-9) meter). Due to the extremely small sizes, these nanoparticles could exhibit unique properties. More details can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanoparticle . In this lab, students will be working on projects related to the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles.
